Planning: Music Video Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro

Throughout this challenge, I have managed to remember the skills I needed to be able to get around the software as well as carry out various effects. I was able to import the media into my sequence on Premier Pro and begin putting the music video together. I was capable of combining the clips together to match each action and give the music video some storyline. I used the tool blade to cut the clips so that I could only use the necessary length that I needed. I could also add transitions to the clips, or change the opacity from 0% to 100% using key frames if I didn't want to lose some time of the clip. However, I found it quite difficult to put this music video together as it is very different from the music that I listen to daily, so I found this task rather challenging.

I believe that I could've done much better for the task, such as exploring the clips more and perhaps trying a few combinations before trying to settle with the final best outcome. Additionally, I believe that the quality of the footage also put me off because the result looked rough and didn't allow me to play with too much effects as this would only worsen the quality of the clips.

I also wanted the music video to be in widescreen format rather than its original, however this affected the definition of the media and unfortunately messed up the quality so now the two black borders at the top and bottom of the screen appear to jump very quickly, which is very distracting to the eye. To avoid this, I will ensure that the footage I capture will be achieved with a HD capable camera for the best outcome.

One of my targets was to match the lip syncing within the music video so that it shows some sort of relation between the artist performing the song and the storyline going along with it. One of the areas I found that I could achieve this was where the artist sung 'I touched the net, momma I touched the net' towards the end of my video. I managed to match the singing and the video well so that it looked like the singer and the boy were really saying the lyrics out loud.

If I was to retry this task, I would experiment more with the order of the clips so that perhaps it would be in the rhythm of the music, or perhaps match the lyrics more in comparison to the edited version above.

After this challenge, I think that I will be much more aware of the composition and the order of the footage when it comes to editing my own  music video. I am also hoping to experiment more with the effects the software can offer so that I could gain more experiments, perhaps even linking Premiere Pro and After Effects together to achieve a special effect if necessary.
